Handprint & Footprint Engraving Guide
A baby’s handprint or footprint can become a keepsake to wear and treasure. Existing prints from a card, keepsake sheet or print kit may be suitable when the outline and main details are clearly visible.
Preparing your image
- Lay the print flat and photograph it from directly above.
- Use bright, indirect light and avoid shadows, reflections and flash glare.
- Include the whole hand or foot, leaving space around the edges.
- Keep a copy of the original image. If taking a new print, use a kit suitable for the child’s age and follow its instructions.
Will the print be actual size?
The print is resized to fit the chosen engraving area. It is not necessarily reproduced at its original physical size. The product’s measurements help you judge the space available.
Can you include two prints or a name?
This depends on the design and the engraving options available for that product. Combining several elements reduces the space for each one. Send your preferred layout for advice before ordering if you are unsure.
