Modern Slavery Policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
Our commitment
Gemz By Emz opposes modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage and exploitative child labour.
We are committed to treating people with dignity and taking proportionate steps to identify and address exploitation risks within our business and supply relationships.
This is a voluntary policy setting out our approach and expectations. It is not a certification that every part of our supply chain has been independently verified.
About our business
Gemz By Emz is a personalised jewellery and keepsake business founded in 2011.
Our supply relationships include jewellery, components, packaging, delivery and other services used to run the business.
Gemz By Emz is responsible for implementing and reviewing this policy.
Our expectations of suppliers
We expect suppliers and business partners to:
-
Comply with applicable employment and human rights laws.
-
Ensure work is freely chosen and workers can leave employment with appropriate lawful notice.
-
Avoid forced labour, trafficking, debt bondage and exploitative child labour.
-
Pay lawful wages and provide safe working conditions.
-
Not withhold identity documents or use threats, coercion or abusive recruitment practices.
-
Take reasonable steps to address exploitation risks in their own supply chains.
-
Raise concerns and cooperate with reasonable enquiries.
Supplier checks and risk awareness
Our approach will be proportionate to the size of our business and the risks involved.
When selecting or reviewing suppliers, we will seek relevant information about their business, sourcing and labour practices where appropriate.
We will give additional attention to concerns such as unclear manufacturing origins, unexplained subcontracting, unusually low prices or credible reports of poor working conditions.
Where concerns arise, we will seek clarification and supporting information rather than rely solely on general assurances.
Responding to concerns
We will take credible concerns seriously and consider appropriate action based on the circumstances.
This may include requesting further information, seeking specialist advice, asking a supplier to address identified problems, suspending new orders or ending a business relationship.
Our response will consider the safety and welfare of affected people. We will avoid actions that could unnecessarily expose them to further harm.
Where appropriate, concerns will be referred to the relevant authorities.
Raising a concern
Customers, suppliers and others can report concerns relating to Gemz By Emz or its supply relationships by emailing:
Please provide relevant details without putting yourself or anyone else at risk. Do not confront suspected offenders or attempt to investigate personally.
We will handle reports sensitively and limit disclosure where reasonably possible. Information may need to be shared with advisers or authorities to investigate or respond appropriately.
We will not tolerate retaliation against anyone raising a genuine concern in good faith.
If someone is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999.
Review
We will review this policy annually and when significant changes to our business, suppliers or identified risks make an earlier review appropriate.
