Jewellery Care Guide
Your jewellery holds something precious. A little everyday care will help protect its finish, fittings and engraving.
Everyday care
-
Put jewellery on after applying perfume, moisturiser, hairspray and other cosmetics.
-
Remove it before sleeping, exercising, swimming, showering or cleaning.
-
Keep it away from chlorine, salt water, bleach, household cleaners and abrasive products.
-
Avoid pulling, snagging or placing pressure on chains, clasps and charms.
-
Gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, clean cloth after wearing.
Surgical steel jewellery
Surgical steel is durable and resistant to corrosion, but it can still become scratched or damaged.
Clean gently with a soft cloth. If needed, use a little lukewarm water and mild soap on a soft cloth, then wipe away any residue and dry thoroughly.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads and silver dips. Do not soak pieces containing leather, glued components or enclosed personalisation.
Gold surgical steel jewellery
Treat the gold-coloured finish gently to help preserve its appearance.
Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth and avoid vigorous rubbing, metal polishes and silver polishing cloths. Minimise contact with water, cosmetics and chemicals.
Friction and everyday wear may gradually affect the finish.
Sterling silver chains
Sterling silver can naturally tarnish through exposure to air, moisture and everyday substances. Tarnishing does not necessarily indicate a fault.
Use a silver polishing cloth gently on the sterling silver chain only, following the cloth manufacturer’s instructions.
Do not use it on gold-coloured parts, leather or engraved surfaces. Avoid chemical silver dips unless we have confirmed they are suitable for your complete piece.
Engraved photographs, handwriting and prints
Your personalisation is engraved into the metal rather than printed in colour. Its appearance changes with lighting and viewing angle.
Clean the engraved surface gently with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Avoid scrubbing, polishing compounds and repeated rubbing over the engraving.
Do not use home remedies such as toothpaste, baking soda or harsh cleaning solutions.
Leather bracelets
Keep leather away from water, steam, sweat, perfume and cleaning products.
Wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth. If it becomes damp, allow it to dry naturally away from radiators, hairdryers and direct sunlight.
Avoid soaking, stretching or sharply bending the leather.
Chains, clasps and fittings
Fasten and unfasten jewellery using the clasp rather than pulling it over your head or hand.
Check clasps, jump rings and fittings regularly. If something looks loose, damaged or difficult to fasten, stop wearing the piece and contact us before attempting a repair.
Keep jewellery out of reach of young children when not in use.
Envelope necklaces and moving parts
Open and close moving parts gently. Do not force hinges, catches or inserts.
Keep removable inserts somewhere secure when handling them, and avoid getting any paper or photographic inserts wet.
Storing your jewellery
Store pieces separately in a dry place, ideally in their gift box or a soft pouch.
Fasten chains before storing to help prevent tangling. Avoid bathrooms, damp rooms, prolonged direct sunlight and storing several pieces together where they can scratch one another.
Make sure jewellery is completely dry before putting it away.
