Photo Engraving Guide
A favourite face, a family moment or a much-loved pet can become a personal keepsake. Start with the clearest version of the photograph you have; it does not need to have been taken by a professional.
Choosing your photograph
- Choose a face that is in focus, with visible features and even lighting.
- One person usually gives the clearest result on a small pendant. Ask us to check photographs with two people or a group before ordering.
- Avoid heavy shadows across the face, strong filters and screenshots of tiny thumbnails when a larger original is available.
- Send the original digital file where possible. For a printed photograph, take a straight-on photograph in bright, indirect light without flash or reflections.
Can you use an old or faded photograph?
Emma’s professional photography and photo-editing background helps with preparing older images for engraving. Some faded or damaged photographs can be improved, but missing detail cannot always be recovered. Send your image for a free suitability check before ordering if you are unsure.
What will a photo engraving look like?
The image is engraved into the metal rather than printed in colour. Its subtle, light-catching appearance changes with the lighting and viewing angle. A screen preview illustrates placement and cropping; it cannot show exactly how the finished metal will reflect light.
Uploading and ordering
Select your jewellery and check its available engraving options. Upload your image in the relevant field, enter any requested text and check your choices before adding the item to your basket. For designs with multiple charms or engraving areas, explain clearly which image belongs where. Options and additional charges are shown on the product page.
